Soiano del Lago

San Carlo Church

In the locality of Chizzoline, near the municipality of Soiano del Lago, there is the beautiful Church of San Carlo. It was built in 1610 following the pastoral visit of Saint Carlo Borromeo conducted in the Diocese of Brescia in 1580. The thing hit the locals very closely, who decided after some years to honour the Saint and also the event that brought him in the area with the building of a church in his honour. 

This church, from an architectural point of view, is very simple, equipped with a single hall and a small bell. The facade is gabled, also if some elements of the pediment and the contours of the building give it a touch of elegance. Inside of the church is stored an important piece of Andrea Bertanza, an altarpiece whose subject is Madonna della Neve with the Saints Giustina and Carlo Borromeo, an extremely tended and detailed work.
